On Saturday September 1 1,20 1 0 at the Arbuckle Ballroom in Davis, Oklahoma, Fight Promoter Muay Khru Yai Troy Green brought together Amateur Competitors from across the United States to compete in the USMTA US National Amateur Muay Thai Championships. The Event held on a day of remembrance for All American's was also a day for competitors from different races, religions and Associations to come together in friendship in fair competition to compete for one of the several USMTA US National Championship Belts. The Event sanctioned by the United States Muay T h Association and Officiated by the American Muay Thai Judge & Referee Association was also the location for some of the competitors to earn a spot with the United States Muay The Association's Native American League Team which is being formed with Native American Competitors, who will be competing in Muay Thai, Muay Chat Cherk and Muay Pram competitions throughout the United States and Internationally beginning in 2011.
The event began actually on Friday September 10,201 0 with the competitors coming to the venue location just off Interstate 35 at exit 55 south of between Oklahoma City, OK and Denton, TX. and located in some of the beautiful rolling hills area of South Central Oklahoma near Turner Falls and the Arbuckle Wilderness. Those competitors that came from out of State and had never been to Oklahoma were amazed at the beauty we here in Oklahoma sometimes forget. With weigh-ins done and competitors physicals completed by Mindy Green RN the USMTA Oklahoma State Medical Officer, many of the competitors and coaches had a chance to visit before competition began on Saturday September 11,201 0.
On Saturday September 11th, 201 0 at 8:45 am all competitors and coaches were called into a clearing of the room for a rules meeting held by Chef Referee Samuel Adams a AMTJRA certified Judge & Referee and a certified Khru with the TBA, who explained what would and would not be permitted during competition upon completion of the meeting competitors and coaches were released and told of the starting competitor line up so that competitors could begin wrapping and taping their hands. At 9:00 am before a crowd of more then 300, everyone was asked to stand as the Star Spangle Banner was played after which the cheers and applauds could be heard echoing throughout the venue. Then at 9:30 am the first two competitors were called to the ring for the start of the competition.
