Sifu RedCloud Anquoe Redcloud Anquoe was first exposed to the martial arts at a young age when he was coached in AAU/Golden Gloves boxing by his father, Jack Anquoe, who was a Golden Gloves Light Heavyweight Champion, an AAU Golden Gloves Chairman, and a sparring partner of World Heavyweight Champion Sonny Liston. In 1982, Redcloud found himself drawn to the Eastern martial arts and for his 8th birthday he got his wish and was enrolled at Al Tracy’s Wing Chun Kung Fu in Tulsa, OK as a gift from his mother. He earned a Jr. black belt there in 1986. Redcloud then trained at D.W. Kang’s Tae Kwon Do, advancing to black belt and winning two gold medals at the 1989 National Junior Olympics. In his search for the best of the martial arts, his studies over the next three years lead him to White Tiger Kenpo, Ninpo Taijitsu, Hung Gar Kung Fu, and Japanese Jiu Jitsu.

In 1993 Redcloud was introduced to Jeet Kune Do by Tulsa’s Terry Gibson. At a seminar, Anquoe met legendary JKD instructor, Dan Inosanto. He began traveling to California as often as possible to train at the Inosanto Academy, one time staying an entire month. He received in depth training in JKD, Kali, Silat, and other weaponry and techniques with Mr. Gibson and Mr. Inosanto. Since JKD is supposed to free its practitioners from being bound to any one particular style and allow a fighter to do whatever is necessary to defend himself, Anquoe decided to put his techniques to the test at a No Holds Barred event. Although he won his fights, he found these techniques ineffective in Mixed Martial Arts fighting, so he set out to find the martial arts styles which would serve him best, researching other disciplines such as Judo and Jiu-Jitsu.

Anquoe sought out the tutelage of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Legend, Rickson Gracie and joined the Rickson Gracie International Jiu-Jitsu Association. He also trained under Tulsa Mixed Martial Arts instructor and fight coach, Calvin Metz. Redcloud was also a student of 5X King of Pancrase and 3X UFC Heavy weight Champion, Bas Rutten, who Grappling Magazine called “The Greatest Martial Artist in the World”. In order to supplement his income as a Jiu-Jitsu instructor, Redcloud decided to try his hand at professional fighting. His first professional Mixed Martial Arts fight was in 2002 at Dan “The Beast” Severn’s Danger Zone in Ft. Wayne, IN. He won all four of his bouts, three by knock-out and one by submission.

(Muay Chao Cherk is a mixed martial art that allows a fighter to use techniques from any fighting system.). He went on to defend that title 5 times. In 2008, he trained with another UFC legend, Frank Shamrock and tried out for Shamrock’s Razorclaw IFL Fight Team. On July 19th, 2008 Redcloud won the World Mixed Cage Combat Heavyweight Championship title, tapping out opponent John “Wolfman” Wolf at 1 min 46 sec into the second round.
