We are the USMTA, (The United States Muay Thai Association), by this time next year the association will have been around19 years. The USMTA as a name, in the World of Muay Thai, is probably better known than most of the unions in America. That is not bragging, but a fact of how things are. Our connections and links and representatives spread across the globe to144 nations, a fact we are proud of. However on the ‘power grid’ of world Muay Thai, the USMTA could be seen as the underdog to many and a serious threat by others.

Not many people in the high echelon of Muay Thai power want the eyes of the rest of the world looking this way to America, unless they control it. This is where we stand out and stake our claim. This is our country, our nation and our people, and no one can dictate to us on our own soil, by the grace of god.

How did Native Americans get involved?

That is a very good question and deserves a good answer, one that may surprise people. Native Americans have been participating in Muay Thai since the early 1980's. It's just that not many people knew of this. There are 9 Native American Muay Thai champions and 1 North American League Muay Thai Champion of the USMTA.

Some of the first USMTA hands that touched the rubble at Ground Zero were Native American. Some of the workers who built the Twin Towers were of Native American ancestry. And the USMTA were one of the first International martial arts organizations to honor a League to the Native Americans and the People of the First Nations.
